Some exciting news has been circulating about Uniworld Cruise Line and their plan to banish all avoidable single-use plastics not only aboard their vessels, but company-wide as well... Well, the rumors are indeed true! As per the email circulating this morning from Uniworld, their plan is to eradicate all single-use plastics by 2022.

In addition to their plan, Uniworld has also taken the time to include some statistics as it pertains to how much is actually recycled.... Did you know that only 9% of the world's plastic is actually recycled? That's an astonishing statistic!! It's no wonder why most are opting to banish off plastic as a whopping 91% of the stuff can't be recycled anyway. It's actually crazy if you think about it... It begs the question, "Why Are We Still Using
Plastic?" Although some of the plastic we use is recyclable, most of it ends up in the regular garbage or worse littered throughout our streets and bodies of water.

As of the email we received from Uniworld this morning, the river cruise leader has already eliminated all straws & water bottles from their vessels, decreased their chemical waste by 80%, and have worked alongside their suppliers to avoid plastic wrappings on all their goods.

Congratulations Uniworld for doing your part in helping save our environment for future generations.
