Rhone River Cruises

Flowing 497 miles between Geneva, Switzerland and the Mediterranean Sea, the Rhone River flows through Lyon (largest city on its route) all the way south past Avignon & Arles where Vincent Van Gogh painted “Starry Night Over the Rhone”. Times of the Greeks & Romans, the Rhone was a very important highway. It was the main route from the Mediterranean to parts of Western Europe known then as Gaul, which make up parts of France and Switzerland today. Many of today’s most popular river cruises on the Rhone provided by river cruise lines such as Avalon and Uniworld are paired or incorporated with land tour companies like Globus and Trafalgar in Paris, which include a delightful train ride from Paris to Dijon.
